Phillip Whitson
Obituary
Phillip Whitson, age 76, of Salem passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital. Born March 25, 1947, he was the son of the late Nelson Whitson and Evelyn Whitson.
Phillip was a retired truck driver and a member of the Salem Moose Lodge #2573.
He is survived by 3 children: Phillip Whitson II (Chrystal), Gretna Lamb, and Shonna Richardson (Casey); life partner, Sara House; 1 brother: Ray Whitson (Karen); 2 sisters: Lorna Wilburn (Chuck) and Phyllis Gentry (Doug) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Evelyn Whitson; step-mother, Jenny (Tiddles) Whitson; sister, Patricia Andres; and grandson, Kenneth Alexander.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home-Salem Chapel with Bro. Tom Fultz officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
