Janet Skelton Obituary

Janet Louise Skelton, age 84, of Salem passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Salem Hospital.  Born November 17, 1938 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Clark and Louise (Brown) Clark.  on August 31, 1958, she married Everett Lee Skelton who survives.

Janet was a former kindergarten teacher's aide at Bradie Shrum Elementary School and retired customer service representative for Duke Energy; she was a member of Westview Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Everett Skelton; 4 children: Mark Alan Skelton, Marcia Ann Jones (Eric), Mike Aaron Skelton (Lori), and Michele Anita Skelton; 8 grandchildren: Kayelah Skelton, Micaiah Skelton (Mary), Jenna Jones, Allie Jones, Matthew Jones, Uriah Guthrie, Eli Guthrie, and Adam Guthrie; and 1 great granddaughter: Gianna Rose Skelton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Louise Clark; brother, LeRoy Clark, and sister, Anita Zink.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home-Salem Chapel with Mike Motsinger officiating.  Visitation will be held Friday, March 31, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.  Burial to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
