James Dewey Hall, Jr., age 95, of Salem passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Born June 16, 1927 in Danville, Illinois, he was the son of the late James Dewey Hall, Sr. and Martha (Lewis) Hall.
James was a retired carpenter and member of the United States Army.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Martha A. Hughes (Eugene) and Pamela J. Miettinen; brother, Bob Hall; sister, Kay (Hall) Jones; and 9 grandchildren: Myles A. Lawson (Ciara), Marshall E. Lawson (Holly), Shaun Rhoads (Ashli), Shayne Rhoads (Andrew Sanders), Collin E. Lawson, Amelia K. Lawson, Porter Rhoads, Ruby Rhoads, and Eleanor Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dewey Hall, Sr. and Martha Hall; wife, Ruby Hall, daughter, Deborah L. Hall; son, James D. Hall; 2 brothers: Monroe Hall and Willie Lee Hall; 1 sister, Jean (Hall) Nicholson; and son-in-law, Glenn Miettinen.
Direct cremation was chosen; Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home was entrusted with funeral care.
