Everett Lee Skelton, age 85, of Salem passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Salem Hospital. Born February 27, 1938, he was the son of the late Thornton Skelton and Marie (Wright) Skelton. On August 31, 1958, he married Janet (Clark) Skelton who preceded him in death on March 28, 2023.
Everett enjoyed providing for his family and loved his tractors and gardening; he served as an Elder at Westview Christian Church and served on the Building Committee for the Family Life Center; he was a retired maintenance supervisor at Bradie Shrum Elementary; former Washington Township Trustee; and former manager of Meadow Dell Senior Citizen Center.
He is survived by 4 children: Mark Alan Skelton, Marcia Ann Jones (Eric), Mike Aaron Skelton (Lori) and Michele Anita Skelton Guthrie; 2 sisters Barbara Rose and June Motsinger; 8 grandchildren: Kayelah Skelton, Micaiah Skelton (Mary), Jenna Jones, Allie Jones, Matthew Jones, Uriah Guthrie, Eli Guthrie, and Adam Guthrie; and 1 great granddaughter: Gianna Rose Skelton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thornton and Marie Skelton; wife, Janet Skelton; and 3 brothers: Glen Skelton, Ivan Skelton, and Cleo Skelton.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home-Salem Chapel with Mike Motsinger officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 22, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
