Debra Weatherford Obituary

Debra René ( Wilson) Weatherford, 65, of Borden, Indiana passed away with her family by her side on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Norton Pavillion Hospital under Hosparus care in Louisville, Kentucky.

Debbie was born on July 14, 1955 to the late Frank Wilson and Pattie (Bailey) Wilson.  Debbie was the eldest of four children and was loved and adored by her sister and brothers.

Debbie was a 1973 graduate of Borden High School where she was involved in many school activities. Following graduation, on June 8, 1973 she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Raymond Weatherford.

From this marriage they welcomed two children, Dawn René and Brent Raymond.

Debbie entered the workplace after her children began school.  She started her career at the Indiana State Bank in Borden and Sellersburg and she retired from Thornton Oil Corporate Headquarters in December of 2020 after 28 years of service as a Human Resources Manager of Benefits and later as a Senior Facility Manager.  She had a strong work ethic and was respected and admired by her fellow co-workers.

Debbie had many talents and was good at everything she did. She was an especially gifted cake decorator and wedding planner.  She enjoyed planning and coordinating the weddings of her family, friends, and members of the community.  Debbie was also a lifelong member of the Borden Church of Christ and served her church in many roles through the years.  She loved her church and her church family.

Debbie's greatest treasure in life was her family. She was an amazing wife and mother and was the best "Mam" to her five grandchildren. In her free time, you could find her in the gym or at the ballpark cheering them on and celebrating all their accomplishments. She often hosted large family gatherings and holiday celebrations for her extended family.  She carried on traditions of the past and created new memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Most importantly, Debbie loved Jesus.  Always joyful, she spent her entire life serving others and spreading the Good News. She led by example and was the ultimate encourager. The Lord used her in mighty, mighty ways. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, "Mam", Sister, Aunt, and Friend to all.  She touched the lives of everyone who knew her and she will be greatly missed by those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Ray Weatherford; daughter, Dawn (Mike) Jones of Pekin; son, Brent (Jessica) Weatherford of Pekin; sister Amanda (Stu) Allen of Sellersburg; brother Lonnie ( Kathy ) Wilson of Borden; brother Cliff ( Lori) Wilson of Pekin; five grandchildren: Maegen Weatherford, Raegen Weatherford (Jordan), Kirsten Weatherford (Nicholas), Cora Jones, and Cade Jones; a host of nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.

The funeral service will be held Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Borden Church of Christ.  Viewing will be held Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 11:00 a.m until 8:00 p.m. at the church and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.  Burial to follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made further spreading the Gospel “Good News” to the Borden Church of Christ, 426 W. Water Street, Borden, IN 47106.
