Daniel "The Candy Man" Gill Obituary

Daniel H. Gill "The Candy Man", age 70, of Salem, Indiana, passed away on June 7, 2018 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on December 25, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Charles Hershel Gill & Martha Pearl (Benge) Gill.

Dan was a retired truck driver for Wal-Mart. He was a member of Mt Hebron Church near Little York. He was a volunteer with Big Brother & Big Sisters, and active with Washington County Relay for Life for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Stacy Lynn (Runge) Gill of Salem; 4 daughters, Danita R. Lakes (Brian) of Indianpolis, Shelli E. Hackman (Bart) of Salem, Shannon M. Cox (Chris) of Indianapolis, Mackenzie L. Gill of Salem; step-daughter, Heather Luke of Danville, Indiana; step-son, Chuck Brock of Danville, Indiana; sister, Debbi Hayes (Lynn) of Salem; 10 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents; brother, Scott Gill; sister, Sue Corey; infant daughter, Staci L. Gill.

The funeral service Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Hebron Church near Little York. Viewing will be from 4-8 PM Monday at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem, and Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Brother Rodney Sweeney will officiate. Burial will be at Old Rush Creek Cemetery.
