Bessie Mae Little, age 91, of Salem passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 at her residence. Born August 4, 1930 in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn Brickey and Edith (Collins) Brickey. On October 25, 1947, she married Lowell Little who preceded her in death on May 29, 2017.
Bessie Mae was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Womens Group; a member of the Highland Homemakers Club; a member of the St. Vincent Salem Hospital Womens Auxiliary; and served as a Girl Scout leader for many years. She also previously managed the 4 Points Grocery Store and worked in the Bradie Shrum Elementary School cafeteria.
She is survive by 2 sons: Monte Little of Sellersburg, and Jimmy Little (Jean Ann) of Salem; 1 daughter: Tammie Lamb (Ron); daughter-in-law, Patty Little; 10 grandchildren, Shannon (Rhonda) Campbell of Salem, Tracy (Jeff) Day of Salem, Doug (Tara) Little of Paoli, Jason Little of Arizona, Lance (Jill) Little of Salem, Monica Little of Jeffersonville, Laura Motsinger of Salem, Katie (Shawn) Fike of Kentucky, Kaitlyn Lamb of Salem, and Christian (Becca) Lamb of Salem;1 sister: Mary Middleton; 30 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 son, Larry Little; and 1 grandson, Richard Little.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church with Bro. George Browning officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, November 8, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home-Salem Chapel and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
