Trudy Ree Benson

Trudy Ree Benson, age 71, of Salem, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026, at her residence. Born on September 10, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Lloyd Benson and Bessie Marie (Spurgeon) Benson.

Trudy was a dedicated and compassionate school bus driver for special needs children, a role she cherished deeply until her retirement. The children she cared for were truly her whole world, and she treated each one with patience, kindness, and love. Raised on a farm, Trudy carried those strong roots with her throughout her life, valuing hard work and simple joys. In her quieter moments, she found happiness in playing solitaire, a pastime she greatly enjoyed.

She is survived by 3 children: Matthew Wayne Walden, Bradley Shawn Walden and Laura Elizabeth (Walden) Durbin; 2 brothers: Danny and Gary Benson; 1 sister: Sharon Wright; along with 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Marie Benson.

Cremation has been chosen at this time, a celebration of life will be announced at a later date and time
