Ruth Sparks

Ruth L. Sparks, 84, of Borden, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany.  Born on July 11, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Hurst Sr and Myrtle (Campbell) Hurst.

Ruth was the Food Service Director for West Clark Community Schools, a former Clerk Treasurer for the Town of Borden, and a former Borden Town Council member.

Ruth is survived by her 4 children: Cathy Gohmann (William), Andy Sparks (Sonya), Barbara Gillenwater (David), and Jennifer Brandenburg (Chester); her brother, Virgil Hurst Jr; her sister, Patricia Caves; and 4 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, James H. Sparks.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Borden, with Brian Combs officiating.  Burial to follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.
