Rose Marie (Strasser) Shields

Rose Marie Shields, age 89, of Salem Indiana, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Meadow View Health and Rehab Center in Salem. Born on September 1, 1929 in Louisville Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Strasser and Mary Louise (Deckmann) Strasser.

Rose was a member of Canton Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Russell O. Shields; son, Riley Shields (Kalen); 3 daughters, Beverly Shields (Lynn), Susan Collins (Will), and Sharon Clark (Richard); brother, Ben Strasser Jr (Donna); 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; son, Russell O. Shields, Jr.; daughter, Brenda Shields; 2 brothers, Vernon Strasser and Thurston Strasser; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. Tony McCutcheon will officiate.
