Ray Baird

Ray Baird, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Meadow View Health & Rehabilitation Center in Salem at the age of 79. Born January 3, 1929, he was the son of the late James Baird and Lissie (Campbell) Baird. On September 25, 1947, he married Shirley (May) Baird. Ray was a life long farmer. He was a Deacon and former Pastor of The Church of God of Sellersburg, Indiana. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; 3 sons, Paul "Ed" Baird (Sharon), of Arcadia, Indiana, Carl Baird (Jean), of Lanesville, Indiana, and Kevin Baird (Linda), of Scottsburg, Indiana; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Viewing will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 28th and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29th. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem with Bro. William Jordan officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
