Paul Leroy Abbott

Paul Leroy Abbott, age 76, of Pekin, passed away Monday, February 3, 2025 at Meadow View Health & Rehabilitation in Salem. He was born February 24, 1948 in New Albany and was a 1966 graduate of Salem High School.

Following graduation, Paul joined the workforce at Smith Cabinet, later becoming Child Craft Industries. In 1968, he was drafted into the United States Army, serving his country in the Vietnam War from September, 1968 to September, 1969.  When Paul returned home, he went back to work at Child Craft where he retired in 2004 after nearly 40 years of service. Paul was also a member of the Indiana Army National Guard for many years.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Virginia Abbott, and his wife, Mildred Abbott.

He is survived by his step-daughter, Melissa Pickerill (Jeff), and step-grandchildren, Olivia Schear (Quentin) and Owen Pickerill.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home-Pekin Chapel; visitation will be held Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.  Private burial to follow in New Albany Veterans Cemetery.
