Opal Faye Denton, age 82, of Salem, passed away on February 21, 2015 at the Salem Crossing Nursing Home. Born on January 13, 1933 in Washington County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Lotus N. Purlee and Flossie M. (Wingler) Purlee.
She was retired from the Old Smith Cabinet Factory. She was a member of the Old Blue River Christian Church.
Survivors include: son, Tommy D. Denton of Salem; 2 daughters, Vickie J. (Reece) Maness of Salem, and Teresa L. (Carl) Johnson of Campbellsburg; 1 sister, Linda Lou Craig of Scottsburg; 6 grandchildren, Jonathon Maness, Tanya Miller, Holly Zweydorff, Heather Thomas, Jesse Denton and Kayce Johnson; 8 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: parents; husband, Homer B. Denton; brother Chester Purlee; sister Gloria June Lowe; one brother and two sisters died in infancy.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Old Blue River Christian Cemetery. Toney Voyles will officiate.
