Monty Gene Reisinger Sr.

Monty Gene Reisinger Sr., age 83, of Salem, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026, at his residence. Born January 15, 1943, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, he was the son of the late Melvin Reisinger and Jean (Burnett) Mauk. Monty was united in marriage to Nancy (Shepherd) Reisinger.

Monty was a United States Army and Navy veteran and proudly served his country for 27 years and was stationed twice in Vietnam. He was also a member of VFW Post 6636.

Monty is survived by his wife: Nancy Reisinger; his two children: Michelle (Kris) Johnson and Matthew (Kim) Davis; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; along with one brother: Gary Reisinger; and one sister: Betty Hensley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Kathryn Reisinger, his brother, Mick Reisinger, his daughter, Melissa Davis, and two sons, Monty Reisinger ll and Mitchell Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem, with Rick Main officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service with burial to follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
