Melody Ann Coats

Melody Ann Coats, age 50, passed away on June , 2026, at Norton Hospital. She was born on August 13th, 1975, to Roberta and Loren Coats in Washington County Hospital. She attended Eastern High School in Pekin, Indiana. 

Melody was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Clint Bruce; her mother-in-law Gayle Bruce-Doyle, her children Isaac VanDurme (Stephani), Gage Castro (Miranda), Marlow Hamilton (Clayton), Madalyn Bruce, and Emily Righthouse; her sisters Amanda O'Keefe (Roy), Jennifer Righthouse (Jeremy), and Jessica Justice (Louisel); her grandkids Sir Castro, Gemma Castro, Delaney Hamilton, Stratton Hamilton, and Langley Hamilton; her grandmother, Phyllis Rice. 

She is preceded in death by her son Micha VanDurme; her paternal grandparents Glen and Cora Coats; her uncles Randy Coats, Lonnie Coats, and Sonny Coats; her aunt Bertie Coats; her father-in-law Pat Doyle.

During her time on Earth, Melody enjoyed spending time with her family, being outdoors, and traveling. Melody's house was always the one to come to for the most love, the best laughs, and the greatest cooking. When she wasn't inside, Melody enjoyed mushroom hunting with her children, gardening, and taking care of her animals. Alongside taking care of her family, Melody enjoyed community service, including contributing over 11 years to the local Girl Scout troop, attending many fundraiser motorcycle rides, and giving every person she ever met tender love and care. Her favorite activity was going on motorcycle trips with her husband, Clint. Melody loved visiting her favorite places with her favorite person. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Melody will be forever impacted by her big heart and kind soul.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Pekin. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, June 14, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Pekin and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
