Mason E. Thomas

Thomas, Mason E. 82, of Borden, IN. went to his Heavenly Father August 7, 2010 at Autumn Woods Transitional Care Campus. He was born December 11, 1927 to the late William Bodine Thomas and Mary Maxine (Floyd) Thomas. He graduated from Borden High School and served his country in the Marine Corps attached to the Seabees during the reconstruction of Japan after World War II. After his tour of duty he was a truck driver for C.T. Hertzch Trucking Company in Sellersburg from 1955 until his retirement in 1993. Mason was preceded in death by brothers Boyd, Arland and Danny and sisters Betty Lou Scott and Mary Sue Balmer. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty Alberta (Bowers) Thomas; sons, Richard K. Thomas of Borden and Timothy K. (Karen) Thomas of Indianapolis; daughter, Carla F. (Kevin) Akers of Borden; Grandchildren, Kyle (Shelley-Deceased), Kara, Alissa (Treves), Michael and Ryan (Jessica); Great-Grandchildren, Noelle, Wesley, Alexis, Addison and Lilly. His Funeral will be Friday, August 13, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Borden Community Church. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Borden with a full military service. Visitation will be 5-8 Pm Thursday at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Borden.
