Martha Lee (Bell) Newlon

Martha Lee (Bell) Newlon, age 91, of Pekin passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Meadow View Health and Rehab.  Born November 29, 1931 in Pekin, she was the daughter of the late Walter Bell and Maude (Cooley) Bell.  On January 29, 1950, she married Carl Andrew "Andy" Newlon who preceded her in death on May 10, 2022.

Martha Lee was a retired secretary for Eastern High School, a member of East View Church of Christ and a former member of the Pekin Community Betterment Organization.

She is survived by 4 children: Roger Newlon, Rene Batt (Ralph), Rhonda Burnett (Steve), and Lora Nale (Gary); 6 grandchildren: Andrea Craig (Wes), Mikie Batt (Ashley), Stephanie Dolleris (Troy), Malea Fordyce (Aaron), Mallory Bennett (Brian), and Kate Roach (Neil); and 11 great grandchildren: Kagan, Aubree, and Brynn Craig; Kylie, Chase, and Madison Batt; Adriana and Alexander Dolleris; Connor and Liam Fordyce; and Cam Roach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Maude Bell; husband, Andy Newlon; son, Michael Newlon; and sister, Helen Nale.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home-Pekin Chapel with Paul Denny officiating.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 2, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.  Burial to follow in Martinsburg Cemetery.
