Lena Louise Nicholson Brown returned to her heavenly father on March 12, 2013. She was born January 7, 1920 to John Nicholson and Cleo Whitson Nicholson. During the depression her family moved from New Albany to live in Borden where she stayed for the rest of her life. After graduation from Borden High at 17, she and her sister Norma attended Central Normal College in Danville, IN where they graduated in 2 years with "life-time" teaching degrees. On July 19, 1941 she married Willis Bodine Brown. Lena taught school at Pekin and Middle Road in Jeffersonville until she had children in 1948. She was a stay at home mom for 13 years before returning to teaching at Borden Elementary. While raising her 5 children, teaching full-time, and helping her husband on the farm, she returned to college obtaining a 4 year degree. After a car accident in November 1968 she devoted herself to her daughter injured in the crash, Willa Beth Brown. She continued teaching and working hard her whole life always helping others. She is best remembered for her energy and never sitting still.
She is survived by her daughters Pam Bushau (Garry), Anita McKinley (James), Deborah Smith, Willa Beth Brown, one son Frank Brown (Deborah). One sister Ramona Anderson (Max). Grandchildren Misty Ray (Nick), Kristi Hunter (Perry), Julie Beatty (Josh), Megan McKinley, Kari McKechnie (Michael), Amanda Smith, Jennifer Smith, Carl Shedd (Jenny). 9 great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by parents, husband, 2 sisters Norma Stewart (Everett), and Dorothy Nicholson, brother Mandel "Nick" Nicholson, grandsons Jeremy Brown and Owen Beatty, Nephew Barry Stewart, and son-in-law Rick Smith.

Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Thursday at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Borden and Friday from 10:00 am until 12 noon at the Borden Church of Christ. The funeral service will be Friday at 12 noon at the church. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery. Brother Scott Reeder will officiate.
