Judith M. Lewis age 81 of Borden died July 17, 2014 at Floyd Memorial Hospital. Judy was born Feb. 3, 1933 in Pleasant Ridge, Clark County Indiana. She was the youngest child of Benjamin Black and Virginia Bottom Marrs, along with her siblings Howard Marrs, Eva Tingley, Velma Hanson, Jean Roberts, Helen Meyer, and Marjorie Martin all who have preceded her in death.
She was baptized into Christ in the 1940's in a farm quarry near to the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, the same quarry where she and her sisters spent summer days cooling themselves from the tobacco patch. She graduated Borden High School in 1950 and later married the love of her life John I. Lewis in June of 1952. John preceded her in death on September 8, 1989. From this marriage two surviving children were born: Andrew B. Lewis and Katherine L. Wilson both of Borden.
She is also survived by six grandchildren: Erin Jones, Amanda Cavins, John Alan Lewis and Zachary Wilson of Borden, Chad L. Wilson of Evansville, and Rachel Moldoveanu of Louisville, KY. Six great-grandchildren: Gunner and Wyatt Jones, Brayden and Brody Cavins and Olivia Ana and Frankie Modoveanu. She is survived by one sister-in-law Lavoice Lewis of Sellersburg.
Judy enjoyed gardening, old dogs, antiques and serving the public at the Borden Post Office where she worked for nearly 30 years. Visitation will be Saturday July 19th at the Hughes Taylor Funeral Home in Borden between the hours of 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm, and Sunday from 12:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home. The Funeral will be at the Funeral Home Sunday July 20th at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Borden.
