Jeffrey Charles Givan, 62, of Pekin, Indiana, died Tuesday, March 14 2017 in Salem.
Jeff was born on August 13, 1954 in Louisville and was a member of a loving family. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Chicago, the University of Louisville and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He devoted his professional life to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable and abused children through agencies in Athens, Georgia; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Altoona, Pennsylvania; and Louisville. It was in Altoona that he met his bride-to-be, Annette.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Kenneth Givan Jr. and Marjorie (Schiphorst) Givan, and by a sister, Susan.
He is survived by his wife, Annette (Baker) Givan; three sisters, Paula Givan, Sue Lessig, and Sara Wade; brother, Gregory Givan; 2 step sons, David Horsefield and Derick Horsefield; and by many family members who loved him. Arrangements are being handled by Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Pekin, and are private.
