Jean C. Berkey

Jean C. Berkey of Salem, passed away August 28, 2008 at 5:41 AM at the Washington County Memorial Hospital, at the age of 89. She was born on May 18, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Maurice Edward Berkey, Sr. and Ida Mae (Bush) Berkey. She was a retired school teacher, with 29 years at the old Pekin Grade School. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Salem, the Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Tri-Kappa, National Historical Society, DAR, and PEO. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem. Viewing will be from 1:00 PM until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. Brother Steven Fisher will officiate.
