James H. Petty Jr, age 82, of Scottsburg, formerly of Salem, Indiana, passed away Saturday August 11, 2018 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg. He was born on May 25, 1936 in Henryville, Indiana. James was retired from GKN with 25 years of service. He was a member of Walnut Grove Christian Church of Campbellsburg. He was a member of the Salem Masonic Lodge #21, and a Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #286. Survivors include his daughter, Jane McDonald & her husband Bill, of Greenfield, Indiana; son, Jeff Petty & his wife Beth of Campbellsburg; 2 brothers, Jack & Max Petty, both of Scottsburg; sister, Lillie Perkinson of Elizabeth, Indiana; 2 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lou (McKnight) Petty; parents, James H. & Laura (Staton) Petty; brother, Norman Petty; 2 sisters, Nell Abner & Mary Bane. The funeral service will be Wednesday 11:00 AM at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem. Viewing will be Tuesday from 4-8 PM and Wednesday from 9:00 AM until of service at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic service Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. Brother Rodney Sweeney will officiate. www.hughestaylor.net
