James Glen Burgan

James G. Burgan, age 80, of Salem, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday March 12, 2019 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital. Born on April 27, 1938 in Harlan County Kentucky, he was the son of the late Henry Burgan and Cora (Noe) Burgan.

James was a former owner of Burgan Orchard and was a retired janitor at Salem Middle School with over 15 years of service. He was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church in Salem and Indiana Army National Guard.

He is survived by his sister, Barbara Cooley, of Mississippi; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Woodrow Burgan and Charlie Burgan; 9 sisters, Betty Weston, Mae Perez, Vera Betzold, Grace England, Leena Burgan, Beth Dahlbeck, Virginia Carter, Hazel McMinnis, and Wilma Sesit,

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem. Viewing will be from 4-8 PM Friday, and Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors. Brother Steve Gorman will officiate.
