James "Jim" Allen Sanders, age 76 of Salem, died at his home on Friday, January 24, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 24th, 1949 to Lovell and Ethel (Hurst) Sanders. On February 14th, 1975 he married Lou Demma Madden. A lifelong resident of Washington County, Jim retired from the old FabriForm factory and owned The Feed Store in Pekin, for 35 years. Jim was a member of the Salem Church of God. Most of all, he enjoyed working his own cattle farm. Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Demma Sanders; two daughters, Kristy Sanders and Tracy Williams; a son, Jason Sanders; two step sons, James Mauck and Jeff Mauck; four grandchildren: Holly Lawson, Lily Philpott, Landyn Philpott and James Sanders; two great-grandchildren, Collin Lawson and Amelia Lawson; and two sisters, Shirley Bright and Evelyn Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lovell and Ethel Sanders; a sister, Linda Holt; and four brothers: Wayne Edward Sanders, Vernon Brough, Morton Brough and Donnie Brough.
A Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 27, at 11 am at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home – Pekin chapel, with a meal to follow. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
