Jack Barton, age 76, of Pekin, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, at his residence. Born December 1, 1949, in Sonora, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Robert T Barton and Mildred Louise (Hornback) Skaggs.
Jack proudly served his country in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy. After his military service, he dedicated his career to helping others through education, working as an instructor at Roederer Correctional Complex. Jack was also a Catholic by faith.
He is survived by his wife: Carol (Lindsey) Barton; three children: Robin Pruett, Vicki Honchell and Adam Myers-Barton; two sisters: Dorothy Barton and Renee Beck; eight grandchildren: David Embry Jr, Baileigh Embry, Dylan and Ryan Honchell, Sophie and Samuel Barton, Hannah Willis and Casey Pruett; along with three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Per Jacks wishes cremation has been chosen; a celebration of life will be held at a later date and time.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations may be made out to any animal rescue or shelter of your choice.
