Doris Jean Newby
April 12, 1954 — January 11, 2025
Doris Jean Newby, 70, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Todd-Dickey Nursing and Rehab in Leavenworth. Born April 12, 1954, she was the daughter of the late James and Geraldine (Sanders) Perry.
Doris was a home health CNA for 15 years, a custodian for West Washington Schools for 13 years, and the former President of the Salem Eagles Club.
Doris is survived by her children: Larry Perry (Michelle), Hope Newsome, and April Green (Jeff); 2 brothers: Timmy Perry and Rocky Perry (Missy); 5 sisters: Janice Roberts, Patricia Burdine, Tammy Reed, Mary Perry and Melody Perry; 4 grandchildren: Myra McKinney (James), Larry Perry Jr (Kalie), Tre Perry (Gene), and Harper Green; 2 adopted grandchildren: Triston Newby and James Newby; 3 great-grandchildren: Everly, Aubrea and Willow; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Geraldine Perry; and a brother, Jimmy.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 21 at 5 pm at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home - Salem Chapel. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 pm until time of service at the funeral home.
