Dale Martin, age 91, of Campbellsburg, Indiana, passed away on July 27, 2013 at the Meadow View Health and Rehab Center in Salem. Born on December 23, 1921, in Campbellsburg, he was the son of Osborne Ray Martin and Ruth (Brown) Martin. He graduated from Campbellsburg High School. On December 23, 1943 he married Lillian Elizabeth (Dixon) Martin, who survives.
He was a retired lifelong farmer. He was a WWII Army Veteran, he served in Japan during the occupation. He was an Elder and Trustee at the Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Campbellsburg. He was a 70 year member and 50 Year Past Master of the Rob Morris Masonic Lodge #282, a member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Salem Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #286 and former Past Patron of the Campbellsburg Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #258. He was a former Board member of the Orange County REMC, former Board member of the Federal Land Bank, and one of the organizers of the Twin Rush Creek Watershed.
Survivors include: wife, Lillian Martin; 2 daughters, Marcella A. Russell (Rick) of Salem, and Brenda Kay Keith (Kevin) of Indianapolis, Indiana; 8 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: 1 son, Marvin Martin; 1 sister, Lois Martin Neideffer.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday at the Mt Carmel Christian Church in Campbellsburg. Viewing will be from 2-8 pm Monday at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem with a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm, and Tuesday from 10-11 am at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with full military honors. Brother Don Mahan will officiate.
