Barry Lee Stewart, age 67, of Borden, Indiana, passed away at his home on Monday, December 3, 2012. He was the only child of Everett Lee and Norma Lucille (Nicholson) Stewart. He graduated from Borden High School in 1963. He served in the Air Force Reserves from 1965-1969 and was activated for duty in Vietnam from 1968-1969. Upon returning home from his service, Barry worked for the State Highway Dept. and eventually became a Land Surveyor. He worked for many years at the T.J. Boofter and Associates before retiring in 1995.
In 1987, Barry married Elsie Irene (Voyles) Jordan.
Barry was preceeded in death by his parents and his wife. He leaves behind a stepson, Stephen K. Jordan, daughter-in-law, Jeanine (Sizemore) Jordan and two granddaughters, Hannah Genevieve Jordan and Megan Arlene Jordan, as well as many friends and family that will miss him very much.
Barry attended the Borden Baptist Church and belonged to the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors. He was an avid outdoors man and loved to hunt and fish. He had a passion for training and racing horses. Barry always liked to tell stories and always loved a good joke. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, an amazing dad, a very loving grampy, and a wonderful friend to many.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at the old Borden Christian Church (behind Brewers). Viewing will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Borden, and after 10:00 AM Thursday at the church.
The family request any memorial gifts to be made in his name to Hosparus of Southern Indiana or the Wounded Warrior Fund.
